Humans are producing way more food than they ever were in the past. Some estimates say that we produce food for more than 10billion people, and the irony is 1/3rd still sleep empty stomach daily.
So where is this “extra” food going?
Most of us are eating way too much than the body ever needs. Ayurveda had a simple calculation, have at least 8 hours of gap between two meals and never have any food after sunset. Hence, the word break-fast, you ended up eating after a fast of 12-16 hours!
So, does it mean intermittent fasting was invented by Ayurveda?
Yes and no, intermittent fasting is what the body needs. There is research sharing data how the extra food we eat is causing life style diseases.
Worst is the what we are eating
Today most demographies across the globe is consuming way too much sugar and salt. All our favourite food and drinks are getting us addicted to them. In one research it was stated that sugar addiction is way more powerful than alcohol.
Diseases like high blood sugar, high/low blood pressure, obesity etc can be eradicated, simply by eating less. Eating less does not mean lower energy or less nutrition, it just means refuelling when the tanks empty.
Benefits of eating two meals a day.
Many, to start with, your metabolism improves drastically leading to enhanced immunity. You will experience higher consistent energy through out the day with significantly reduced sleep time. Reduced weight, as you will loose excess water and fat after 2 weeks of practicing and many more.
Is it easy to start this diet and will I become anti-social?
It is super easy to start but will require some resolve to continue. All you need to do is plan for a week, then stretch it to a fortnight and then a month. Have healthy snacks for your food pangs, as and when they strike. For ex; keep overnight soaked almonds, walnuts, peanuts handy, have a few when the urge is strong. And, no, you will not become anti-social, you can party with your friends but be conscious while you are not.
Just by reducing sugar and salt from your diet significantly improves your overall health and vitality.Next time just be conscious while you are choosing your food and drink to see how much processed sugar and salt they have.
